Indian and Banana River Lagoons Fishing

The Indian River is an estuary that starts in Jupiter FL. And ends in Titusville FL. The southern part of the lagoon has more tide fluctuation because there are many inlets not far apart from one another. As it comes farther north the inlets are spread farther apart from one another so you don’t get much tide fluctuation. The northern end of the lagoon is very plentiful with various species of birds, fish, and other wild game animals. The inshore fishing for trout, snook, redfish, and tarpon is spectacular in the area of the river from Sebastian Fl. to Titusville. This area is a great haven because of the lush grass flats and natural mangrove shorelines which attract small baitfish and crustaceans, in turn, attracting the bigger inshore species as mentioned. There are also some juvenile offshore species such as, groupers and snappers that in habit the deeper channels and mangrove shorelines. Once these fish get to adult size they move through the inlets back offshore. There are several types of birds and other wildlife you may see on a trip such as, dolphins, manatees feeding in the deeper waters or wild hogs and alligators in the shallows or on the shorelines of the lagoon. Thanks to state and Federal laws regulating fishing, boating, and commercial use, the Indian River Lagoon has become a great place to fish or enjoy a peaceful day on the water.
